Learning Resources Centre
The Learning Resources Centre (LRC) is one of the most important and busy areas of Bedford Girls’ School.
In addition to an ample array of books, the LRC provides girls in both the Junior and Senior Schools with ready access to a full range of print and multi-media resources (links at the end of the page) as well as being home to numerous clubs and research support.
Dedicated to delivering the right information to the right people at the right time using the media of their choice, the LRC team is committed to enriching the girls’ learning experiences and opening up new opportunities to engage and interact with a global community of readers, writers and researchers.
In the Summer of 2013, the LRC was redeveloped to reflect the changing learning preferences of girls in the 21st century. We opened up new spaces, created new learning areas and modernised the facilities to give the girls space in which they can discuss their ideas freely, debate issues and collaborate on projects. With the new furnishings and décor, girls are encouraged to find a good book, curl up and read, as, alongside our drive to develop our ICT we value books and what they represent. We strongly feel that the LRC should be the focal point of learning in the school and have designed an environment to ensure that this is the case. Supplemented by two further branch areas in the Junior School, the LRC continues to position itself firmly at the heart of life at Bedford Girls’ School and is a vital part of each and every girl’s journey through the school.
