Director of Music

Head of Geography

Commencing September 2018

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and motivated teacher of geography to lead an exceptionally strong Geography Department from September 2018. The person appointed will have a clear vision for the department and have outstanding leadership skills to ensure continued high attainment and outstanding teaching and learning at all key stages.

In line with the School’s ethos, the successful candidate must be open-minded and enthusiastic in adopting innovative and exciting ways of teaching. As an Apple Distinguished school technology is integrated into all that we do, providing opportunities to extend learning and collaboration.

An extensive programme of extra-curricular activities and trips are offered outside the classroom to bring the subject to life. An extremely popular subject at GCSE, IB Diploma and A Level our students achieve considerable academic success in Geography.  

The School has its own salary scale, which is above the national scale. Teacher of Music, Maternity Cover

Part-Time, 0.50 FTE approx.

Commencing April 2018

We have an opportunity for an experienced Teacher of Music to join our successful and specialist music team in this selective independent girls’ school as a part-time Teacher of Music. This is a maternity cover for approximately twelve months.

As a Teacher of Music, you will be involved in teaching classes of girls from Year 3 to the Sixth Form including A Level. Experience of teaching sixth form students would be an advantage. The successful candidate will be passionate about music and motivated to encourage and inspire bright, talented girls. You must be an accomplished musician, an experienced and engaging teacher ready to put music centre stage in this bold, imaginative and reflective school. A wide co-curriculum is offered to which staff are expected to contribute.

Housed in a purpose built accommodation the Music Department is endowed with well-equipped practice rooms, performance spaces, a recording studio and two music technology suites.

Music Administrator

15 hours per week, Term Time Only, plus two weeks during school holidays

£19,000 to £20,000 pro rata per annum

(Actual salary £6,162 to £6,486 per annum)

A vacancy has arisen within our Music Department for an experienced administrator to coordinate instrumental music lessons, and offer administrative support to the Music Department at Bedford Girls’ School.

The successful candidate must have excellent administrative skills, the ability to manage competing demands and meet tight deadlines consistently. This role requires a flexible approach and the ability to work and problem solve independently on a regular basis.
