On Thursday 3rd May, our Year 5 space scientists departed on their mission to explore the National Space Centre in Leicester.

Having begun our Written in the Stars, Unit of Enquiry only two weeks earlier, we arrived at the Centre with many questions we were hoping to answer. The girls explored the six interactive galleries – a particular favourite being the mock-up of the Columbus module from the International Space Station.

The climb of 144 steps to the top of the iconic 42 foot Rocket Tower allowed the girls to get up close to real rockets. The semi-transparent tower, houses the centre’s largest artefacts, including the Blue Streak and Thor Able Rockets.

It was truly a memorable day and a fantastic journey into space!
