Whole School Girls' Leadership Group

As part of their Respect campaign (yourself, others and the environment), last week, the Girls Leadership Group asked the whole school community to write pledges with the prompt ‘I will respect my mind by...’

Bella Trobe (Deputy Head Girl, Internal Relations), said: “We wanted to raise awareness of Mental Health Awareness Week by asking teachers, students, support staff, members of the catering and premises teams, to make a personal pledge. We hoped this could make everyone think about something they could easily do to help themselves (and their mind).”

Highlighted by the Mental Health Foundation charity, Mental Health Awareness Week (13th-19th May) raises awareness of topics like stress, relationships, loneliness, sleep, alcohol and friendship. Mental health problems can affect anyone, at any time, it is everyone’s business.

Miss Dawson (Biology Teacher, CAS & Service Coordinator), said: “Each of us goes through stressful moments in our lives and the development of good coping skills allows us to maintain good mental health at these times. These pledges show that our students are aware of the simple techniques, such as eating, sleeping and exercising regularly which can help them achieve to the best of their ability and help them cope with life’s inevitable challenges.”
