Mrs Thomas (Year 5 Teacher)

Linking to their Unit of Inquiry about Role Models, on Thursday morning, Year 5 were delighted to welcome rugby legend Derek 'Budge' Rogers OBE in to talk to everyone about his experiences and career as a rugby player.

He spoke passionately about his motivation and early days as an aspiring rugby player, who his role models were at that time, as well as what it was like playing for England, the British Lions and captaining the England Rugby team.

He also spoke about the changes he has seen over the years as well as the growth of women’s rugby. It was a fascinating insight into his career and highlighted many of the important skills and values needed to be able to succeed and achieve any goal or ambition we may have.

In 2017, Budge released his long overdue biography Budge Rogers: A Rugby Life, which is a real highlight of his story, click here.
