Senior School Swimming

Mr Castro (Head of Swimming)

Friday 8th October saw the return of school swimming competitions after the great pause of 2019/2020. Our school swim teams have been sorely missing the thrill and excitement of swimming competitions.

There were 15 students making up the three different teams, the Junior team (Years 7 and 8) the Intermediate team (Years 9 and 10) and finally the Seniors made up from Years 11 and Sixth Form. The teams travelled to Watford for the qualifying round of the English school National swimming finals. The swimming standard across Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire school is always very high and makes for some very exciting racing. All the teams put in a huge effort into each of their races and dug very deep to produce some very fast times. The team atmosphere was great on the pool side with some new swimmers on the team.

The Seniors led by great example for the new swimmers in the Junior teams and it was wonderful to see all the teams supporting each other. I am sure it was very inspiring for the younger swimmers to see our fast swimming Seniors in action. We now have to wait to see if we have qualified for the National Finals later in the year.
