A Splash of Yellow!

Whole School Community

By the Service Team

On Friday the 15th of October, we had a Yellow day to celebrate the end of the first half term of this academic year. As well as providing some fun to the end of a busy half term, non-uniform days also allow us to fundraise for charitable causes.

This time, our non-uniform day coincided with the #HelloYellow campaign run by Young Minds, and so the theme was to wear an item of yellow clothing to support the cause!

Young Minds is a charity that helps raise awareness and supports young people battling mental health issues. We also raised funds for our school charity Bedford Women’s Centre, which aims to support women in the local community in improving the quality of life for them and their families. They offer one to one support and mentoring, weekly workshops, training courses and support groups for women to promote healthy relationships and eradicate domestic abuse.

The Sixth Form also had an assembly on Wednesday the 3rd November, where a speaker from the Bedford Women’s Centre came in to talk about domestic abuse and the services the charity provides for women in the community to improve the quality of life for them and their families.

Thank you to everyone at BGS for supporting these causes and helping to raise money and awareness for Young Minds and Bedford Women’s Centre. Everyone got involved and it was wonderful to see the flashes of yellow brightening up the school!
