On Saturday 5th February, the first lacrosse team travelled to Caterham to compete in the South East Schools Finals Lacrosse tournament.

We started the day with a match against Berkhamsted School; it was a tough game but we came out on top with a 2-1 win, setting the tone for the day. That was followed by another win against Wycombe Abbey coming out with a 3-2 result which put us in high spirits. This streak was then broken with two tough games against Guildford High School and St Paul's Girls' School, but our previous wins and the small goal differences saw us safely into the quarter finals.

In the quarter finals we played Putney High School, who were undefeated all day and finished top of their section. This was an intense and nail-biting game of end-to-end lacrosse. BGS were awarded a penalty in the final moments of the game resulting in a well-earned 3-2 win for BGS. Through to the semi-finals, we were met with Berkhamsted once again, unfortunately they got this win despite some outstanding defence.

Lastly, we played St Catherine's School in the playoff for 3rd and 4th place in a fierce game and came out 4th out of 11. The standard of play from BGS was incredibly high with excellent teamwork and support throughout, ensuring that morale was high and all came away incredibly proud.

This was a great set up for National Schools in March, meaning we can arrive with great positivity and confidence.
