A huge congratulations to BGS lacrosse coach, Mrs Greenwood and her England Lacrosse team who captured a historic bronze medal after defeating Australia, 8-7, in triple overtime in one of the best games of the 2022 World Lacrosse Women’s Championship in Maryland, USA.

Mrs Greenwood, who is also the Eco and Sustainability Lead at BGS reflected on her experience: “Sometimes, the role you think you expect isn’t the role you receive. Being a goalie on any team can be difficult for a multitude of reasons and lacrosse is no different. My World Championship experience, though it exceeded my expectations, was still full of new experiences. Some challenging, some heart-warming, and all rewarding. While I reflect on the impact I made for my team, I don’t necessarily look to my performance in this world championships, but instead the five years leading up to. That’s where I made the most impact for my team helping them become better, smarter players. And for our efforts we were rewarded with a bronze medal that I will proudly wear to remember that there will never be an England team like this again.”

After a 5-year hiatus, Mrs. Greenwood joined the England Lacrosse Squad in 2017 and was a part of the 2019 Gold Medal European Championship Team. The busy elite lacrosse schedule continues for Mrs Greenwood where she is currently representing British Lacrosse at The World Games 2022 in Birmingham, USA. This selection is an outstanding achievement as only 12 women have been selected to represent Team GB lacrosse at the championships.

Many congratulations, Mrs Greenwood! You are an incredible role model to our aspiring lacrosse players.
