¡Buen provecho! - Enjoy your meal!

On Monday, our Year 5 pupils enjoyed a culinary experience which reinforced the learning of food topic vocabulary and enhanced their experience of Spanish language and culture through food.

The hands-on workshop involved the preparation of tasty dishes in Randle Hall with many staff joining me including Mr Pickard (Chef Manager), Mrs Jones (Junior School Teaching Assistant), Miss Arauzo-Andres (Spanish Teaching Assistant) and Lower Sixth students studying A levels Spanish.

All the Year 5 pupils were engaged in a lively, hands-on activity, answering questions about the food that they were preparing and learning about the origins and cultural relevance of the recipes and ingredients involved, spanning the Spanish diaspora (Spain, the Arab world, Central and South America). They all then enjoyed sampling  the delicious gazpacho and el pastel de las tres leches’.
