Whole School Swimming

By Lulu Donaghy (Upper Sixth)

On Friday 3rd March, the BGS Swim Squad were joined by boys from Abingdon School to take part in their Gala.

It was a well-organised event and was a great opportunity for us to take part in mixed races. We were grateful for the support from the boys for Abingdon School for their effort on the day and we all enjoyed competing! The competition was strong and we finished 4th, with particularly fast swims from the team.

For me it was my last opportunity to represent BGS and as Swim Captain it gave me the chance to reflect on swimming for the last 11 years with Miss Gray and Mr Castro. I have had the most wonderful opportunities representing BGS across the country in school gala’s, regional and national events; swum in top pools including the Aquatic Pool in London, and  enjoyed swim training in Cyprus.

I know that my love of swimming will continue – and hope to pick up competitive swimming when I go to university.

Thank you, Miss Gray and Mr Castro, for your support and encouragement across the years!
