The Drama Department took the Years 11 and Sixth Form drama students to see Mythos: Ragnarök last Thursday 2nd March at The Quarry Theatre.

Expectations were high as nobody had ever seen this style of theatre before - a mixture of comedy, ancient Norse mythology… and wrestling! The show did not disappoint! As we entered the auditorium to see a square stage, up lit from underneath with red neon lighting strips and theatrical smoke spiralling into the audience, we took our seats to the sound of pulsing rock music. The first actor entered the stage to a roar of applause and we settled in for an evening of pure entertainment.

It was exciting to see a piece of theatre so different from any trip we have taken before. The students came away with heads full of inspiration and new ideas that we could implement into our own practice.

Students reflected on the performance:

Leila (Year 11): “I absolutely loved it! It was everything I adored ranging from Norse mythology to drama, I loved to see how they mixed proper lore with wrestling and drama.”

Annabelle (Lower Sixth): “Mythos was an eye-opening experience into a new type of theatre I haven’t seen before. I had a lot of fun with my friends, hearing everyone’s raw reactions to the play created a lively atmosphere, which made it so much more enjoyable. We even chatted to some of the actors at the end!”

Hannah (Lower Sixth): “It was absolutely incredible, I was blown away by the costume, the stunts and the overall stage presence from the amazingly talented actors.”
