Wishing the very best of luck to our Head of Swimming, Mr Castro, who will be competing in the highly anticipated 2023 World Triathlon Age-Group Championships (35-39 Standard Age Group) in Pontevedra, Spain on Sunday 24th September.

After clinching a bronze medal in Abu Dhabi in 2022, Mr Castro is now aiming for the top spot on the podium in the world's most prestigious triathlon event.

Mr Castro's most recent international triumph came in the form of a bronze medal at the 2023 Europe Triathlon Championships (35-39 age group) in June. His remarkable achievement was made even more impressive by his resilience in the face of adversity, as he overcame a challenging foot injury and successfully adapted to a Duathlon format. He commenced the event with a 5km run, seamlessly transitioning into a 37.3km bike ride and ultimately concluding with a 10km run.

Mr Castro reflected: “I am looking forward to racing, this is my last one of the season so I'll be giving it everything. It's great to be part of an event which brings together people from all over the world who have the same enthusiasm for and dedication to triathlon, I find it very inspiring.”

Check out his outstanding international achievements here.

You will be able to watch the triathlon series live here.

An inspiring role model for all our students and aspiring triathlon enthusiasts, both within the BGS Community and beyond, we'll be cheering for Mr Castro from the UK!
