Whole School House

Always a showstopper, House Talent is one of the key highlights of the year because it involves every student from Years 3 right through to the Upper Sixth. One of the main aims for each House is to try to win the Cup for the best House Song but in addition there are also Cups for the Best Junior and Senior acts.

Although the competition took place at the end of last month, the students and staff have been eagerly waiting with bated breath for the final results which were revealed in their House assemblies on Thursday.

This year 18 different acts reached the Finals and during the afternoon on Tuesday 28th November everyone across the school had the opportunity to perform their House Song in front of a rapturous audience in the Assembly Hall.

In the Junior category, sisters Florence (Year 5, Franklin) and Olive Lionetti (Year 4, Franklin) stole the show with their imaginative poem and puppet show. However, in the end, the judges - former BGS Head of Dance, Mrs Winter, her daughter Sophie Winter, and 2017 BGS alumna, Lydia Prettyman, awarded Ananya Somisetty (Year 5, Chanel) first place for her traditional Indian Dance.

The competition for the best Senior performance was highly competitive. There were outstanding performances from Emilia Kendall (Year 8, Chanel), who delivered an impressive ballet routine; Milla Schreyer (Year 8, Franklin), showcasing impressive sleight-of-hand magic card tricks; and, of course, the hilarious chicken dance performed by Anna-Maria McGuigan (Year 10, Parks) and Maryam Rashid (Year 10, Parks), who were dressed in inflated chicken costumes. However, this year's Senior winner was Polly Martin (Year 11, Austen) with her exceptional performance of Make You Feel My Love by Adele.

The special part of House Talent are the House Songs where every single person in each House takes part. They were all very impressive but, in the end, it was Parks who won the top spot with their lively performance of Greased Lightning.
