Whole School CCF

We’re super proud of Molly Folbigg (Year 10), who has secured a highly coveted spot in the prestigious Cadets Navy Wings programme.

Sponsored by the Royal Navy, the aviation course is exceptionally popular, with hundreds of cadets nationwide submitting applications. Molly has been invited to attend a Ground School course next month, where she'll explore various aviation subjects, including the theory of flight, meteorology, flight planning, human factors, and more. The course introduces a high-pressure environment designed to simulate the workload of a budding pilot.

Molly reflected on the application process and her love for CCF: “The application for this programme involved writing a CV and a cover letter detailing why you should be picked for the programme and your interests in Naval Aviation. It was a lengthy but rewarding process. In my cover letter, I showed off my current knowledge of what Naval Planes do. Aviation is something that I enjoy studying and watching at local air shows.

“I would highly recommend joining CCF at school as it gives you so many opportunities you wouldn't be able to find anywhere else, for example sailing a boat out of Portsmouth Harbour to the Isle of Wight. I absolutely love CCF, the Navy is a small but close group with a range of different ages and personalities! As we are a small group, we often get the best sessions and field weekends, which offer a variety of different opportunities (driving boats, plotting routes, and sailing) and different skills, for example, knot tying. I have made lots of great memories on field weekends and at CCF sessions; I have made friends with lots of different people all throughout my section and the CCF.”

Many congratulations Molly! We're excited to follow your journey in the Cadets Navy Wings programme.
