Senior School Geography

On Thursday 2nd May, the Year 7 girls enjoyed a whistle-stop tour of mid-Bedfordshire, which involved investigating the relationship between landscape, rock type and economic activity.

The girls spent the day making observations and sketches on geology and land use in and round Mid-Bedfordshire, stops included Stewartby, the Millennium Country Park, Ampthill, Sharpenhoe Clappers and Barton-le-Clay. Ankita Somisetty reflected on the field trip:

“We visited Ampthill to collect evidence and to help our understanding on how the housing developments have had an impact on the area. Throughout the day, we also investigated geology and what the land was made of such as clay, chalk and greensand.

“We visited the Millenium Country Park (Clay), Barton Springs (Chalk) , Sharpenhoe Clappers (Chalk) , Ampthill Park (Greensand). All the data generated from the trip will be applied in an assessment, which will contribute towards the formal assessments aspect of the Year 7 Geography curriculum. Overall, it was an amazing trip and yes, it didn’t rain!”
