Miss Forster (Year 5 Teacher)

On Monday, Year 5 enjoyed an Indian dance workshop from a professional instructor. This was a wonderful way to understand more about an aspect of Indian culture as part of our Unit of inquiry: Who We Are, where the students have been looking into culture, heritage and how both contribute to the people they are.

Each class showed an amazing commitment to learning a whole dance in just 45 minutes, and many stepped out of their comfort zones to try something new. At the end of the day, the whole year group put on a very impressive performance where they boldly performed in front of each other and their teachers. The performance was made extra special by each class having their own unique song and dance – Well done Year 5!

Jenna Mistry (5VF) said: “It was a super fun workshop, the dance we did was a lovely mix of moves and I enjoyed learning the hand movements. I was able to see aspects of other cultures within it too, and I liked learning about the connection between Hollywood and Bollywood.”
