Junior School Philosophy and Religion

By Mr Schofield (Head of Year 4)

This half term, Year 4 are focusing on the transdisciplinary theme, How We Express Ourselves. This unit is so important and exciting as it allows our pupils to consider the connections between individuals and their religions, and how they express their beliefs and values.

We began our unit with a lively provocation in which the girls were tasked to explore artefacts and clothing from four world religions. This inspired lots of questions and discussions about different religious practices and perspectives. As they use their research skills to find out more about their chosen religion, the girls will then consider how religions affect lifestyle and inspire expression through art, music and dance.

The learning journey has also been enhanced by our wonderful Year 4 parents who have given their precious time to visit and share their religious beliefs with the girls.
