Throughout the Autumn and Spring Terms, our Year 8 students have been raising awareness and funds through various initiatives for the school charity FACES.

FACES is a local independent charity which offers practical and emotional support to families under stress. The charity supports local children and families which face difficult issues such as mental health and physical health, domestic abuse, poverty, child sexual exploitation and behavioural issues.

On Tuesday evening, the committee organised a movie night for the whole year group. They ate cupcakes and watched the movie Bend it Like Beckham. The committee chose a film which was a comedy but also struck a chord with them about girls being determined to do something they enjoy and to have fun with friends.

This is the fourth event this year which the Year 8 Committee has arranged and during the Christmas holiday they went to the Charity where they decorated Santa’s Grotto for the Christmas party and wrapped Christmas presents for Father Christmas to hand out.

The committee has many more activities planned for the rest of this term and they are delighted that the funds they raise will be going towards funding the Dad and Me group and also provide money to buy school uniforms for families.
