This week our younger riders and their ponies were competing closer to home, show jumping at Leighton Buzzard.

Those flying the flag for BGS were our youngest member Eleanor Brown (Year 3) and Tilly, Charlie Smith (Year 5) and Ollie, Isabella Bevan (Year 7) and Dora, Clover White (Year 7) and Lacey and Lily Sonsino (Year 8) and Raffie.

This was a Grassroots show where it encourages all ages to have a go at competing, with the show jumping classes starting at 40cm. It enables members to gain valuable experience riding at bigger venues and also gives them the opportunity to qualify for a Regional Championship later in the year.

Notable results were a win for Clover and Lacey in the 70cm class, along with a 2nd in the 60cm class, giving them two qualifying places. Lily and Raffie also picked up a rosette for 5th in the 80cm Combined Training class, where their show jumping and dressage marks count towards their result.

They all had a fabulous day out, although the high temperatures made it challenging for the ponies and riders. Plenty of shade and water kept them going.

Our 2022/2023 season is almost over now and all the members have had an amazing year with their ponies. Well done everyone and a huge thank you to all the supportive parents and friends that make it happen for the girls, we look forward to more exciting events next year.
