Exam Results

We are extremely proud of both our Upper Sixth and Year 11 cohorts, who have demonstrated that through consistent commitment and application, they can achieve their aspirations despite the disruptions they faced during the pandemic years.

Our cohorts have achieved excellent results in 2023 across the IB Diploma Programme, A Levels and GCSE examinations. Earlier in the summer term, our IB cohort performed exceptionally well, achieving an average score of 38 points (compared to a worldwide average of 30), with over 20% of the cohort achieving scores above 40 points, which is outstanding.

78% of combined A Level and IB Diploma entries were awarded A*-B grades. An impressive 85% of our Upper Sixth students secured their firm choice university offers, with others also earning places in prestigious apprenticeship programs.

GCSE results were also impressive, with two-thirds of entries achieving grades 9 to 7 and 21% earning grade 9. This cohort has demonstrated remarkable resilience and dedication, culminating in impressive results that underscore their commitment.

The school values all the diverse journeys that students choose to take with their qualifications. The rich and varied mix of further study courses is a testament to this: Medicine, International Disaster Management & Humanitarian Response, Geography with Business, Mechanical Engineering, Politics with International Relations, Physiotherapy, Philosophy, and Fine Art with Computational Arts. Destinations include Bath, Birmingham, Bristol, Durham, Exeter, King's College London, Leicester, Loughborough, Manchester, Newcastle, Oxford, University Arts London, and Warwick, to name a few.

Mrs Gibson (Headmistress) commented: “I am sure you will join me in congratulating the students and wishing them great success in the next stage of their education. I would like to thank all of their teachers and the wider team at BGS for supporting, guiding, and mentoring them through their Sixth Form studies. I have no doubt that this cohort will make a difference to the world around them.”
