A Day of Preparation and Insight

Sixth Form

By Mrs Pearl (Oxbridge Coordinator)

On Monday 19th June, the Lower Sixth potential Oxbridge candidates were joined by Oxbridge Applications for a day of subject-specific preparation.

This included advice and tips for each stage of the application process from Alicia Luba, Director of Oxbridge Applications, critical thinking practice with expert tutors and a mock interview for each student. There were some excellent questions from the students and it was wonderful to see such enthusiasm from our prospective candidates for their chosen subjects.

Tash (Lower Sixth) shares her reflections on the event: “The Oxbridge Preparation Day gave me a great insight into the application process. Alicia Luba, one of the guest speakers, gave us expert advice about certain courses and the differences between Oxford and Cambridge. This benefited me greatly as I had previously been debating between the two. At first, I was slightly apprehensive about the prospect of an interview. However, I soon realised what a great opportunity it was: an in-depth conversation with a specialist in the field. It was an incredibly useful experience that I have come away from feeling excited, and now I am focused on what areas need improvement.”

Our Lower Sixth Oxbridge candidates will be busy writing their personal statements and preparing for admissions tests over Summer, and we wish them the very best of luck with their applications!
