Senior School Hockey

By Mr Mason-McLeod (Head of Junior Sport)

Hockey season has kicked off at BGS. The 1st team, U16s and U15s all started the term off representing the school at the Rugby School Hockey Tournament. Both the 1st team and U16s were unbeaten throughout the tournaments and the U15’s massively improved over their tournament and showed a lot of promise for the 2023/24 season.

The first weekend of fixtures against King’s High Warwick ended with two wins, three draws and two losses, with impressive displays from the U16As, U15Bs and U14Bs. The U13A and Bs played in the Bedford Modern Hockey Festival, the U13As finished with two wins, two draws and one loss and the Bs had three wins and one draw. It was great to see nearly 50 students at U12 hockey training on Saturday morning.

Last week we had a block fixture against Northampton High School, resulting in four wins out of four. Impressive displays from the BGS U14As and U14Bs beating the NHS U15As and U14As respectively. The U12A and Bs played in the Bedford Modern Hockey Festival, the As finished with three wins and a very underserved loss and the Bs finished with two wins and two draws.
