Senior School The Bridge Careers Service

On Thursday 18th January, we were thrilled to welcome back BGS alumna Imogen Cooper (2016).

Imogen delivered an inspiring Lunchbox Lecture to our Senior School and Sixth Form students about her professional journey as an Executive Producer and Screenwriter.

Following her studies at BGS, Imogen pursued a degree in History and English at the University of Sheffield, achieving first-class honours. She subsequently gained valuable experience in the media industry through internships and freelance roles including BBC Radio Suffolk and Illustrious Media to name a few. Imogen currently holds the position of International Scripted Executive at Reel One Entertainment.

During her session with students, Imogen shared her career pathway she took to enter the film industry, discussed the challenges and dispelled some myths about starting a career in this highly competitive sector. She also highlighted less obvious entry points and generously pointed out useful resources and opportunities for students to explore independently. Following her presentation, there were numerous intriguing and pertinent questions from those in attendance; Mrs Whitlock (Head of Careers) was impressed with the level of engagement and enthusiasm displayed.

We are now looking forward to our upcoming Lunch Box Lectures in March. We will be welcoming BGS alumna Eloise Cawood (2022) to share insights into Degree Apprenticeships, and Bedford High School alumna, Charlotte Fone (2009) to discuss careers in Creative Arts.
