Miss Durgin (Teacher of PE)

The BGS lacrosse season is now in full flow with fixtures taking place home and away and our girls are achieving fantastic results, here are short reports highlighting key fixtures.

Saturday 30th September turned out to be a perfect sunny day for the U19 County Tournament. Both the 1st and 2nd lacrosse teams competed in their respective tournaments and produced some outstanding performances. The first team competed in a round robin tournament, competing against rival schools such as St George's, St Alban's, Berkhamsted, and Haberdashers Aske, finishing second overall after a hard fought final against Berkhamsted. The second team finished the morning with five wins, two losses and one draw, narrowly missing out to Berkhamsted finishing third overall on the day.

1st team MVP - Cecilia Castell

2nd team MVP - Katie Lunn

U15a Lacrosse Team

On Tuesday 3rd October, our U15a lacrosse team travelled to Berkhamsted School for an intense afternoon of Lacrosse, once again competing for the coveted county Lacrosse Champions Title.

After five games, BGS found themselves facing the tough rival opponent Berkhamsted School, who they had drawn 3-3 with earlier. BGS jumped ahead 1-0 after the first few minutes and managed to hold Berkhamsted School off until the final 20 seconds of the game. The final whistle blew but the score line was 1-1. Off to sudden death, golden goal overtime. Unfortunately, Berkhamsted School gained possession straight off the draw and scored 15 seconds into overtime, bumping Bedford into second place. An excellent afternoon of Lacrosse played by all.

U15 MVP - Holly Smith

First Team vs Cambridge

On Thursday 28th September, BGS's First Team for Lacrosse travelled to Cambridge to play an all-encompassing Cambridge Squad, including talented England players. Undaunted, the BGS team performed with extreme passion, working at a high physical intensity through the match. The final score was 4-11 to Cambridge, with Bedford goals from Alexa Wilson, Annie Marks and Eleanor Bruce.

U13C Lacrosse Team

On Friday 6th October, the U13c team took to the lacrosse pitch playing a local side from Castle Newnham. A strong start by the midfielders gave possession to Bedford, leading to a quick goal. With their strong determination, the team scored another three goals heading into half time 4-0. Lead by Grace Hughes with a few crucial turnovers and goals, the team’s persistence and hard work continued well into the second half. The final score was 7-3 to Bedford and Grace Hughes was selected as match MVP.
