Re-Imagined. Re-Twisted

Mrs Howe (Director of Drama and Dance)

Rehearsals are fully underway for this December’s Senior production of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by Caroline Bird. The cast have been working hard to bring to life the fantastically wacky world of Oz as envisaged by Bird where trees have machine guns, mice use their droppings as bullets and munchkins and squirrels can fall in love with Tin Men and Lions.

We have been having great fun during characterisation rehearsals for the plethora of magical characters and the cast were particularly impressive in attacking the challenging physicality of the Flying Monkeys during their 5-hour workshop on Sunday 3rd October. That day also saw the cast exploring creative ways to produce the Pelican and Purple Cat puppets as initial inspiration for our puppet designers Ella Bowis and Grace Harris (Year 10).

We are looking forward to another productive day of workshopping during Half Term when we will be tackling how to create a cyclone on stage and undertaking the first full run of the show. We are aiming for the final production to be a fun-filled and vibrant experience - a lovely way to begin the Festive season in earnest. So, we do hope you will be able to join us for one of the productions with performances in the Studio Theatre as follows:

Thursday 2nd December 7.00pm

Friday 3rd December 7.00pm

Saturday 4th December - 1.30pm and 7.00pm

Information on how to book tickets will be sent out shortly.
