On Sunday (8th November) 38 year 9 girls set out on a 13-mile walk to raise money for Educate Girls India.

In an effort to replicate – and reflect on – the journey girls make in India to get to school every day, pupils set off in a cheery mood.

Despite some tiredness along the way the girls did extremely well and high spirits remained throughout.

At 11am they all stood silent for two minutes to reflect on Remembrance Sunday, and had a 20-minute break at the Danish Camp.

The walk, which saw pupils head to Blunham and back, was the first in a series of fundraising events that Year 9 have planned, to raise money and awareness for a charity which they passionately believe in.

Eden Werner said: "Although the walk was exhausting, it only highlighted how far some girls have to go to get an education in India.

“I admire the girls we're trying to help even more now, because the walk showed me how far a girl has to, and will go, to get her rightful education.”

In a separate event, Megan Cameron-Fraser, Caitlin Cameron-Fraser, Ruby Sutton and Georgia Spriggs raised more than £40 for Educate Girls from a cup cake sale they held on Halloween.
