Last Saturday the BGS Equestrian Team leapt to glory at the County Challenge Championship Qualifiers in Cedars Bury Farm, Leighton Buzzard.

The competition was fiercely contested against between schools from Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire. The talented equestrians competed in the 80cm, 90cm and 1m events, claiming the Bedfordshire County title in each class.

Holly Maudlin won the individual title in the 80cm class and will represent BGS both individually and as part of the team.

A special mention goes to Ella Jemmett Gabrys who broke a bone in her hand in the final 1m class over a difficult jump. She carried on riding one handed for the team to ensure that they got their qualification!

The equestrians will now be competing in the National County Championships in April.

The BGS teams were made up of Lottie Denton (Year 10), Lydia Franklin (Year 10), Ella Jemmett-Gabrys (Year 8), Abi Jackson (Year 8), Holly Maudlin (Year 6), Jess White (Year 9) and Jessica Yeoman (Year 6).
