Whole School The Bridge Careers Service

Mrs Whitlock (Head of The Bridge Careers Service)

The Bridge was delighted to host not one, but two Lunchbox Lectures last week. Miss Lucy Griffiths from EY led a session on Tuesday 3rd March entitled, Knowing your Strengths, during which girls did several fun exercises to identify their skills and highlight talents. Lucy also spoke about alternatives to university, and more specifically, what’s involved in undertaking an apprenticeship.

Then on Friday 6th March, Dr Joanne Gilbert delivered a presentation on her role as Conservation Programmes Deputy Director for the RSPB, offering fascinating insights to the organisation’s work in the UK and globally. Joanne also discussed her career path and how her personal interest in the environment became her profession, she also gave students tips and pointers for how to turn something you love into a career, and was candid about some of the pitfalls too.

It’s worth remembering that girls who are unable to come to a Lunchbox Lecture can access each one after the event: all sessions are videoed, uploaded and accessible to all girls via Planet eStream on their iPads or the home page of the school computers.
