Many congratulations to all our budding mathematicians in the Junior School, who put in high energy and competitive performances in the Maths Week England Rock Out Competition (Monday 9th – 14th November). Organised by Times Tables Rock Stars, the online quiz that challenges players to answer a series of multiplication and division questions as quickly as possible.

Throughout the course of the week, BGS amassed an outstanding 604,809 points. Mrs Schofield’s (Year 4) class, were the highest scoring band with 134,244, followed by Miss Arnold’s (Year 4) class, who totalled 93,645 and finishing off the top three placings was Miss Fisher’s (Year 4) class who scored 82,505. However, the top three classes had a tough competition from Year 3, who were hot on their heels!

Minnu Sooraj (Year 4) was the top performing player, achieving an outstanding score of 76,192 points. Simone Erwig (Year 4) achieved an impressive 70,082 points and Miya Ladher (Year 5) achieved an incredible 28,403 points.

Mrs Copp (Deputy Head of Junior School) said: “We are so proud of all the girls who further developed their skills of automaticity, speed and accuracy of times tables. Although the school didn’t win this as part of the national competition, BGS girls represented us proudly, scoring an incredible amount of points. We continue to encourage the girls to practice, practice, practice and to have strong skills in mathematical fluency. We look forward to the next competition.”
