Continuing our pets at BGS theme, we are very excited to welcome another new member of the BGS family, Danny the Cocker Spaniel. A new addition to the Mrs Howe’s (Head of Junior School) family, Danny enjoys the odd treat or two and getting up to mischief!

The Edit had the opportunity to interview Danny, Mrs Howe and her daughter, Lily (Year 8), read it below.

Next week, we will be highlighting Mrs Thompson’s (Teaching Assistant) amazing Labradoodle Polo, who is a Pets as Therapy dog in the Junior School.

How old is Danny?

Danny is 4 months, he was born in September.

When did Danny join the Howe family?

Danny came to live with us on Friday 13th November! A lucky day for the Howe’s.

How did you come up with his name?

We said as a joke that we should call him Daniel the Spaniel! We had lots of ideas for names but couldn’t decide.  Eventually my children, Lily (Year 8) and Tom (who is 15) were left to make a decision. They decided on Danny!

What is the most rewarding thing about being a pet owner?

Aside from the cuddles and funny things he does (like working out how to kick a ball and hiding his toys in the garden) we are really enjoying watching him grow and learn some commands.

What’s the naughtiest thing Danny has done?

He stole Lily’s glasses from off her nose when she bent down to play with him and he ran off with them. When he has something he knows he isn’t allowed, he scoots under the sofa and we can only get him out with treats.

Will you bring Danny in to meet the Junior School students, when it is safe to do so?

Yes, definitely. He loves sitting on people’s laps and getting lots of attention and cuddles, so I am sure he will be an instant hit! I’m excited to introduce him to the pupils and of course to Polo!

A few questions for Danny…

Describe your perfect day?

Starting off with a delicious breakfast (I LOVE my food) then going for a walk and meeting some friends while I am out and about.  Then I get home, try to sneak upstairs and steal a scrunchie or two (I love those) then have a bit of a snooze before my next meal!

What’s your favourite treat?

When I get in from my walk, I get this yummy salmon chewy stick that I demolish in my bed.

What are your key attributes?

I’m definitely an inquirer!  I love smelling all the smells around the garden and out and about around my village. I’m also a loyal friend - when I’m on a walk I never run off and stay close to my humans!
