Mrs Lugsden (Head of Art and Textiles)
Textiles Design and Fine Art A Level students had a great time on Thursday lunchtime, when they had the opportunity to visit an exhibition by Jane McDonald at Bedford School, entitled Sweet Disorder.
The work included a number of layered mixed media pieces, inspired by natural forms. Students from both schools were able to work together, sharing their thoughts and opinions about the work on display, and had the opportunity to give feedback to the group. The show was a super source of inspiration, and it was great to give BGS students the opportunity to work with their peers at Bedford School.
Sophie Forbes-Laird reflected: "It was really fun to collaborate with each other and discuss our art courses. Jane McDonald’s work was extremely colourful, textured and creative. There was a wide range of pieces for us to discuss, and a range of techniques and approaches that appealed to both art and textiles students. It was interesting to speak about McDonald’s work and discuss how it related to our relevant courses. McDonald’s work was presented in a range of ways, both wall hangings, pillows and we even got to see her sketchbook pages. It was a really enjoyable afternoon for all!"
