During the Easter holidays, the talented Equestrian Team were out competing for places to ride at the prestigious Hickstead All England NSEA National Championships at the end of May.
The riders and their horses competed in Arena Eventing, a mix of show jumps followed by cross country combinations and water elements against the clock, riding in teams and as individual competitors.
The top two teams and top four individuals were awarded hotly contested qualifying places to ride at Hickstead next month. The BGS teams certainly delivered, with the 90/95cm team taking the win and the 80/85cm & 100/105cm teams coming second in their classes taking home the qualifying places.
All the riders had a wonderful day supporting each other in very competitive sections - those representing BGS Lily Sonsino (Year 7) with Jackie & Maisie, Lucy Maudlin (Year 7) with Twister, Saskia Cutts (Year 8) with Dr Doolittle, Jess Yeoman (Year 9) with Frank, Holly Maudlin (Year 9) with Party & Eddie, Issy Perry (Year 10) with Queenie & Ellie Mullan (Year 10) with Mulberry.

There are exciting times ahead for the riders with more competitions throughout the summer. The school team is open to all riders that enjoy competing, at all levels. Riders must have access to a pony and have transport available to events. The school takes part in show jumping, dressage and arena eventing classes across the southeast region. Interested?
