Whole School Senior Leadership Team

We are delighted to welcome Mrs Becky Hudson-Findley to the BGS community who started her role as the Director of Digital Learning, Enterprise and Sustainability last week.

Mrs Hudson-Findley will be overseeing our ambitious strategy to remain at the frontier of innovation in education, and to ensure that our students have the skills needed to be at the cutting edge of dynamic growth in technological knowledge acquisition. Prior to starting her new role at BGS, Mrs Findley-Hudson was the course leader for Digital Degrees at Coventry University.

The Edit sat down with Mrs Hudson-Findley to find out a bit more about her background.

Can you tell us a bit about your professional background?

Rather strangely I started my career as something quite different to what my current skill set is. I studied English, History and Media Studies at University, and like a great deal of individuals, I felt that I had that novel inside me waiting to be written. I thought that while I was working on becoming the next Jane Austen, I would get what my parents called a ‘proper job’. This involved working as a junior reporter and researcher for a while until one of my friends foolishly suggested that I do some English teaching on the side. Even more foolishly - I said yes. That was it, I was completely hooked and before I knew it I was teaching Media studies too. I went on to enjoy teaching digital design, animation, media production, User Interaction Design and User Experience Design at various colleges and universities in the UK and internationally. Essentially, I teach people how to have ideas and then find the right technologies to help them make it happen.

What attracted you to the role at BGS?

You had me at ‘Bold, Imaginative and Reflective!’ I think our values sum up completely what I would wish for our future generations. When I visited for my interview, I was so impressed with the positive energy of the students and staff. I loved how interested in learning the students are.

What are you looking forward to about working at BGS?

I am really looking forward to meeting my new colleagues and all of our students so that I can listen to their brilliant ideas. Collaboration is my cup of tea. I cannot wait to see all the wonderful work that goes on in our classrooms.
