By Miss Dawson (Head of Year 9)
Last term, Year 9 were introduced to our international charity, United World Schools, whose aim is to ‘teach the unreachable’ in remote and underdeveloped parts of SouthEast Asia, focusing particularly on girls' education and issues related to girls, such as period poverty.
Having learnt about the charity and how relatively small sums of money can be used to make a big difference in these areas, each Year 9 form group was tasked with coming up with fundraising ideas to raise funds for this charity.
The students started with running a charity fayre this week, where each form had their own stall which was planned, organised, promoted and run by members of the form. The stalls ranged from selling cakes, and second hand books and clothes, to a tombola and guessing the number of sweets in the jar. The fayre was hugely successful with the final with amounting to £563.52 for United World Schools!
