By Mrs Inkson (Head of Year 6)
As we approach the culmination of the IB Primary Years Programme (IB PYP), we are excited to share the progress Year 6 are making in preparation for their upcoming Exhibition. The theme of the Exhibition is ‘Sharing the Planet’ and groups have all chosen to research and present on a global issue that they feel passionate about.
Each Exhibition group has a mentor, drawn from the wider school community including Junior and Senior school teachers. The mentors meet with the students weekly. These sessions are a cornerstone of our preparation process, offering a blend of guidance, feedback, and expertise that is really supporting our Year 6 students.
Every week, the girls eagerly anticipate their meetings with their mentors. These interactions are not just routine check-ins but dynamic learning sessions where mentors and students collaborate closely. During these meetings, the groups:
- Share Progress: Each group presents their ongoing work, sharing milestones they’ve achieved and discussing the challenges they’ve encountered. This openness allows for a comprehensive review of their projects, ensuring that they stay on track and continue to grow.
- Plan Next Steps: The mentors provide strategic advice on what the groups need to focus on next. This forward-looking approach helps the students to stay organised and motivated, with clear goals and actionable plans.
- Receive Feedback: Constructive feedback is a key component of these sessions. Our mentors, with their vast experience and knowledge, offer insights that help the girls refine their work, encouraging them to think critically and creatively.
- Gain Expert Advice: The mentors bring a wealth of expertise from various fields, enriching the girls' understanding and perspectives.
We are looking forward to sharing all our hard work with our families, our mentors and the school at our Exhibition in the last week of term.
