A huge congratulations to Imogen Blower (Year 11), who has been selected for the U19 Wales Lacrosse Squad! Imogen joins Harri Scarr (Year 11), who has been playing for Wales for the past couple of years.
Imogen reflected on her selection and the journey that led her to this achievement: “I have played lacrosse since Year 6, where I started in Group 3 for Games. I really enjoyed the sport straight away, but at the start of Year 7, I had an accident where I fractured my right foot and could no longer participate. During my time out, I watched Group 1, where I learned some new skills that I later brought back to Group 3. Very quickly, I moved up the groups and was able to start playing for the C team.
“Throughout Years 8 and 9, I worked extremely hard to progress through the teams, and in doing so, I made it to the A team. Since then, I have played in the A team for the past two years and was lucky enough to attend two National Schools events. I learned about Welsh Lacrosse from one of my peers, Harri Scarr, who had already been selected to play for the squad.
“I attended the trials in the summer, and it was so much fun. I learned many new skills and was fortunate enough to get in. I can’t wait for our next training weekend in October. Basically, the moral of the story is that even if you’re in a lower group, it doesn’t mean you can’t make it far.”
We are very proud of Imogen’s hard work and success and look forward to seeing what she achieves next.
