Over the past two weeks 32 Year 5 pupils from Broughton Manor and Milton Keynes Preparatory Schools have spent time at BGS, getting to know pupils, key members of staff and taking part in some fun activities.

During the mornings the pupils took part in an introduction to lacrosse session where they got to learn more about the sport from Mrs Mason-McLeod, Director of Sport and Mrs Rachael Lombaard PE Teacher. The pupils practised some fun activities together and then split into four teams to compete against each other to get the most points.

Over refreshments, groups of BGS Year 5 and Lower Sixth students spent time with our visitors, chatting to them about life at BGS, answering questions (many about lunch!) and getting to know each other. Some of our Lower Sixth students also took Broughton Manor pupils on a treasure hunt around the school grounds. It was also wonderful for the teachers from Broughton Manor and Milton Keynes Preparatory to see some former pupils who are now at BGS, updating them as to what they’ve been up to since moving on.

Our visitors then took part in an interactive music task with our Director of Music, Mr Page. They first discussed what makes a piece of music music, and not just noise. They then learnt and rehearsed a piece using just their hands and bodies to create sounds of a thunderstorm. The resulting performance was amazing and if you closed your eyes you could imagine being in a real storm. All of our visitors had a wonderful time and left full of excitement about their time at BGS, hoping to visit again soon and maybe becoming a BGS pupil in the future.
