On Saturday 18th March, BGS lacrosse teams played a series of competitive fixtures against Putney High School at Wimbledon RFU. Despite the early start, the players showed great skill, determination, and teamwork, with each match serving as valuable preparation for the upcoming National Schools Lacrosse competition on Saturday 8th March.

The U18 teams faced tough matches on challenging pitches. The team started strongly, with Harriet Whitbread standing out for her consistent success in winning centre draw possession. Charlotte Proctor’s superb goal was a memorable highlight of the day.

The U15A team turned their match around after a difficult first half, where they trailed 7-0. Reflecting on their performance, they came back strongly in the second half. Ava Brading and Brooke Bendall shared Player of the Match for their contributions. The U15B team played to a 1-1 draw, with outstanding goalkeeping from Brooke, who was also named Player of the Match along with Claudia Jewers.

The U14A team faced a particularly strong Putney side, described as their toughest in years. Despite a 13-1 loss, the team fought hard, with Amelia Pask earning Player of the Match.

The U13A team had a slow start, finishing the first half 2-8. After a motivating talk from Mrs Smith (PE teacher), they rallied to draw the second half 2-2. Izzy Macey-White and Maryam Ahmed were named Players of the Match. The U13B team played a closely contested game, eventually losing 2-9. Rose and Indy were recognised as Players of the Match for their efforts.

These fixtures showcased the dedication and resilience of all BGS players. As the National Schools Lacrosse competition approaches, the teams have gained valuable experience to build on for future matches.
