Whole School Alumnae

Thank you to Zoë Davis (née Carter, BGS 2014), who joined our GCSE Food and Nutrition students last Friday morning (28th February).

Zoë talked about her varied route into the world of food and provided the students with ‘food for thought’ about the many different types of food-related jobs that exist.

On leaving BGS, Zoë read Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge and began a career working in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. Zoë has always been interested in food and the science behind making recipes and last year she decided to take the leap and train as a Chef. Zoë now runs her own catering company, Carter Cookery, as well as working as a consultant for a local farm that is looking at operating different food related initiatives.

Concluding her talk, Zoë shared her top tips for food presentation to the group as they think ahead to their upcoming practical assessments. It is always lovely for our students to hear the first-hand experiences of former students – thank you Zoë for visiting and we wish you every success with your new venture.
