Year 4 visited the stunning setting of Hampton Court Palace on Friday (18th September) for an educational trip.
The girls had the opportunity to take part in two workshops – ‘Upstairs, Downstairs’ and ‘Exploring Royal Kitchens’.
For ‘Upstairs, Downstairs’, the workshop was led by a costumed presenter. The palace route-based session encouraged the girls to explore the idea that Hampton Court is a palace of two halves.
Using the palace as source material, pupils explored the notion of hierarchy and status within the Tudor court and how these are reflected in the buildings of the Tudor Palace.
‘Exploring Royal Kitchens’ saw pupils learn about the different foods cooked and consumed at the palace and the necessary roles required to deliver this.
In addition, girls were given the chance to explore the palace and the maze, which covers a third of an acre and is the UK’s oldest surviving hedge maze.
