Eco Club Look For Hedgehogs

The Eco Club meets every Wednesday lunchtime (first lunch in M012) to work on various eco-themed activities. Below, Mrs Morgan, who runs the club, gives an update on their latest initiative.

This week we took delivery of a purpose-built hedgehog nest box, and the girls spent time during this week's Eco Club getting it ready for visiting hedgehogs looking for a safe place to hibernate.

We filled the box with shredded newspaper and left specially-made hedgehog food, together with boiled eggs and cooked potatoes, to help attract these little creatures. The box has now been placed over in a quiet corner of the wildlife area at the back of Burnaby House, which the Eco Club created last year, and we hope to have a hedgehog in residence very soon.

Over the past few years the UK’s hedgehog population has been on the decline. For further information on how you can help too, please take a look at this great website Hedgehog Street.
