On Saturday 2nd to Sunday 3rd June, Lower Sixth Student Bronwyn Tagg raced at the second event of the Elite Junior Triathlon Super Series. The sprint distance triathlon at Blenheim Palace involved an 800m lake swim, a 20km cycle and a 5km run.

Bronwyn raced against her own age group but also with the senior athletes, where she competed against up and coming triathletes. During the swim, she came out of the front of the chase pack. The 400m uphill run to transition, which was situated in the middle of the palace courtyard, placed her in the middle of the pack. It was an undulating bike course which made her time slower than she had hoped for.

Bronwyn said: “On the run, it was just a case of finishing the race, while I suffered from heat exhaustion and dehydration. I took a very important lesson from this race - to drink more water on the bike and ensure I am hydrated in the days before the race.”

Bronwyn finished 13th place in her age group, her next race is in Cardiff on Sunday the 24th June.
