There has been a whole host of spooktacular themed activities in the Junior School LRC this week in celebration of  Halloween and the Day of the Dead.

Halloween’ origins date back over 2000 years, to the ancient Celtic festival of ‘Samhain’ (pronounced sow-in). The Celts believed that on the 31st October, the boundary between the world of the living and the dead was opened.  They believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth. So on the 31 October, the Celts celebrated ‘Samhain’, known then as ‘All Hallows Eve’ and called today ‘Halloween.

The girls celebrating the festivals by playing tricks on one another, dressing up as ghosts and monsters and created colourful Day of the Dead masks.
