Mrs Potter (Year 6 Teacher)
This week, the Junior Head Girls’ Team was invited to Pilgrims Pre-Preparatory School to present an assembly to the Year 2 pupils.
The Head Girls chose to speak on the importance of having a growth mindset, something which is central to our ethos at BGS. The team came up with the idea of two superwomen, Captain Yet and Marvellous Mistake Maker, who come to the rescue of two girls struggling with a maths problem.
The superwomen helped us realise the importance of perseverance and the value of making and learning from mistakes. The Year 2s listened beautifully and clearly enjoyed the assembly, telling us at the end that they thought the Head Girls’ Team had shown a growth mindset when preparing and sharing their assembly.
A member of the Head Girls’ Team commented, “I remember being in Year 2 and looking up to the older children in my school and it was great to be a role model for the Year 2s today.” Both the Head Girls’ team and the Year 2s learnt a lot from the experience and proved that anyone can be a superhero if they have a growth mindset!
