Mrs McKinnell (Music Teacher)

Tuesday 20th November saw a select group of Music students travelling down to St. Paul’s Church, Bedford, to attend a Lunchtime Concert.

The Music students from Years 10, 11 and the Upper Sixth, enjoyed a concert given by Alim Beisembayev, a wonderful pianist who is on a full scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music. He performed the Variations in F minor, by Haydn and the Four Impromtus, by Schubert.

It was a delightful way to spend a lunchtime, and massively inspirational for our students to see such a professional and flawless performance from a young performer of only 20 years old. The girls were stunned that Mr Beisembayev had memorised an hour’s worth of music and were engaged by his extrovert performance style.

On the evening of 20th November, our Year 11 and Upper Sixth IB Music students hosted a Music Recital Evening, which was a fantastic opportunity for all the students to perform in an informal atmosphere to an audience over in Trinity House.

The girls were most supportive of one another, and it was great to see how well they were prepared for this element of their coursework so early in the year. Well done to all the students for a most enjoyable evening of performances, and thanks to Adrian Boynton for accompanying.
