Mrs Cruse (Head of Year 9)

On Monday evening, the Year 9 girls arranged an Indian Folklore Dance workshop evening to raise funds and awareness for their charity Educate Girls in India.

The girls worked creatively and learned a number of colourful Indian folklore moves including a traditional stick dance routine, Bollywood moves and some more traditional Indian ballet too. The girls also painted henna on their hands and learnt about the cultural significance of this body art. A huge thank to Debbie Ganguli, a qualified Indian Dance teacher for giving her time to teaching the girls beautiful and expressive dances.

Kimya Ghods said: “We had one of the parents come in and teach Folklore dancing, henna, music and most importantly food. It was a lovely atmosphere. Funds raised from the event will help girls receive an education in India.”

The girls have also been busy preparing for the Association Christmas Fayre, which takes place this Saturday, where they will be selling their creative tote bags for £5 and tea towels for £4 to raise funds for Educate Girls.

On Monday and Tuesday next week, they are running Christmas fairs for the pupils in the Junior School in the Assembly Hall.
