Last Saturday 12 BGS lacrosse teams played against Wycombe Abbey in our first big block lacrosse fixture of the term. Although much of the fixtures in the Autumn Term are devoted to hockey, the lacrosse teams have been training hard behind the scenes.

Wycombe Abbey are renowned for their lacrosse and BGS teams knew that the competition was going to be extremely tough.  All girls battled hard from the 1st team right through to the U12C team with the U12A, B and C teams playing their first ever lacrosse matches for BGS.

A special mention must go to the U12 B team who snatched their victory 6-5, the U13B team who won 7-0 and the U15B team who drew 4-4. The age group of the day though were the U14s where the A team won 8-6 and the B team won 5-1. Both these teams played with skill and determination, having practised with outstanding focus and intensity since September.

Additional individual success in the Super Counties Competition came with Judith Tarrant (Upper Sixth) and Holly Smith (Year 11) finishing in runners up spot with their team which means that they will go on to play in the U19 Super Counties National Finals in York in March. Elizabeth Bruce (Year 10) who was part of the winning U15 team and will be competing in the U15 age group in the National Finals will join them in York.

Congratulations also to Isabella Devile (Upper Sixth) and Eleanor Schwalm (Year 10) goalkeeper, who also played in the Regional Super Counties tournament but just failed to qualify for the National Finals this time around.
