Katie Bradley and Emily Coton (Year 10)

On Tuesday, nearly the whole Year 10 girls attended the GCSE Science in Action event at the University of Warwick.

The highly engaging sessions are designed to inspired and challenge students. There were over five different speakers discussing a wide range of different aspects of science, from astronomy to nano technology.

All of the speakers were very engaging and all of the lectures were extremely interactive and were adapted to our age group. This made it easier for us to understand than it normally would be.

There was something for everyone and some very interesting experiments. For example, the electrostatic ball. Overall, it was an extremely fun day and an exceedingly informative trip.

Dr Gates (Head of Chemistry) said: “From the discovery of ‘The Hoff’ crab at 5000m under the sea, to the classification of galaxies and measuring the densities of black holes, via an endoscopy of the lungs to Darth Vader’s signature tune played out by static electricity.  A great day to inspire our scientists of the future.”
