Mr Jeffryes (Mathematics Teacher)
BGS once again produced fantastic results in the recent Intermediate Maths Challenge (IMC), which is run by the UK Mathematics Trust and supported by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries. It is aimed at those in Years 9 and 10 and is sat in school.
Over 200,000 pupils across the UK sat the Intermediate Challenge with the top 7% receiving a gold, 13% receiving a silver and 20% bronze. In Year 9, three pupils received silver and eight bronze. In Year 10, Rachel Gibb received a gold, with a further seven students receiving silver and 10 bronze.
Approximately, 8500 of the top students (less than 5%) are invited to a follow on competition, the Intermediate Olympiad or Kangaroo. Emily Polhill (Year 9) qualifies for the Kangaroo and takes this challenge on Thursday 21st March.
